Our counselling work offers support in:

Anxiety

Anxiety is a normal human emotion we all feel anxious at some point or another in our lives.

However when anxiety takes over and you find that you can no longer concentrate on everyday activities then it can become distressing and sometimes lead to depression.

Anxiety can be triggered by anything e.g. being late for an appointment, meeting new people, unhappiness in a relationship, family conflict or challenges at work.

Depression

Depression is common emotion that is experienced by 1 in 5 people. It is often linked to severe anxiety especially if anxious feelings are not dealt with properly.

We all feel low, unhappy or sad from time to time – some of us are able to bounce back from these feelings or have close friends or family to talk to. When neither is available or absent or you simply cannot share your worries you may feel alone with your thoughts and depression can creep in. Particularly if it appears your sadness is lasting longer than normal when you’re feeling okay.

Sometimes depression can be triggered by pass hurts e.g. childhood trauma, family conflict or an unhealthy relationship. Sometimes there is no particular reason; you could be unhappy with your life or circumstances in general which you feel you have no control over.

Grief & Bereavement

Sadness knows no boundaries. Whilst grief and bereavement is normally associated with the loss of a loved one.  It can take the form of any emotion relating to a ‘loss’.

Grief is a powerful overwhelming emotion that can occur when you least expect it e.g in a supermarket or doing a mundane task such as putting the washing out. It floods back in waves and certain things can trigger it e.g music a kind word or a memory.

Grief can also be experienced over the loss of work and the identity that comes with it  e.g  being made redundant or retiring.

Relationship Issues

Relationships can be a source of great comfort, but they can also bring deep frustration and pain when things are not going well. Whether it’s communication breakdown, lack of trust, emotional distance, or ongoing conflict, relationship struggles can leave you feeling confused, lonely, or unheard.

Sometimes these difficulties stem from unmet needs, past experiences, or patterns that repeat without us realising. Through counselling, you can begin to understand these patterns, express yourself openly, and rebuild healthy communication.
